Double H Shetland Pony Stud is a small boutique stud based in North Canterbury. Showing is the primary discipline for the stud with our ponies competing across the South Island at local A&P and breed shows over the years. 

The Stud was established 20 years ago in 2005 following the purchase of Narrandera Xcell (567NZ) by my Grandma, Christine. My Dad, Mark, then purchased Narrandera Yaxley (648NZ) the following season who was a weanling colt as a gift for my Mum, Sarah. Narrandera Yaxley would later go on to sire Double H Stud’s first Shetland foal, Double H Quintessa (802NZ). Both Narrandera Xcell and Narrandera Yaxley (now gelded) reside at Double H Shetland Pony Stud to this day. 

Double H Stud is also home to Burravoe Zesbrie (940NZ), who is a two-time New Zealand Shetland Pony of the year (2018/2019 & 2021/2022). With her two offspring Double H Citrus Liqueur (1168NZ), a 5-year old mare and Double H Valencia, a yearling colt. 

We are thankful to be able to access many imported genetics from both Australia and the United Kingdom due to previous investments from the founding breeders of New Zealand which can be found in many Double H Shetland ponies
