About Beechgrove Shetland Pony Stud
We bought our first pony in April 1998 and leased another for Richard in January 1999. In July 1999 Beechgrove Stud was founded. We like to breed strong, well boned, solid, hardy ponies, suitable for in-hand showing, riding and harness. They must have a very good nature and be easy to handle.
We have a mixture of colours. All young stock are taught to lead and tie up before they are sold. All mares just live on grass and hay and no hard feed is fed. Weanlings are given some hard feed the first winter.

Our stallion, Cotswold Aristocrat, has done very well at shows, winning many champion and supremes. He was the first pony to win Supreme Champion at the 'NZ Shetland Pony Breeders Show' twice in 2005 & 2009. He is also the first stallion to win the 'NZ Shetland Pony Breeders Stallion of The Year' four times. He is a dream to handle and does stand to outside mares leaving a lot of coloured foals.
Beechgrove McTaggart
Reg. 714NZ. We bred a very good colt Beechgrove McTaggart in 2009 which was unbeaten in his age group classes in the 2010-11 season winning five Championships and one Supreme Champion. He also won the NZSPB Two Year-Old of The Year and Overall Young Stock of The Year Trophy for the 2010-11 season. He will be available to outside mares in the 2012-13 season.
